Connect Assist Program

we are here for you! How Can we help?

Connect Assist is a joint effort of the Deacons and the Communications Department of CrossPoint Church, in collaboration with ProFathers, Inc.
At a time when many people are isolated from loved ones and friends due to COVID-19, it’s especially important for people to be able to use modern computer technology to stay connected. For most people this is not a problem and they are able to log into Facebook, Zoom, Facetime, Duo, and many other computer communication tools and can even fix the problems they might have themselves.

Many others, however, are not able to take advantage of such tools. It is for such people that we are rolling out Connect Assist, a program designed to provide the following:

  1. Provide free remote tech support for those with limited computer skills and/or financial resources, to help them make use of the computer resources they already have in their homes. Click here to fill out the Tech Support form to request support or call or text 909.312.3716 now!

  2. Provide basic communication equipment on loan (pre-programmed laptops compliments of ProFathers, Inc.), along with remote tech support, for people that have no access to any computer resources, with eligibility to be determined by the deacons. The deacons are reaching out initially to the seniors in our community to do a basic need assessment for the laptops provided by ProFathers, Inc. However, if you or someone you know may qualify for this program, feel free to call or text 909.312.3716 and ask for someone to contact you about this program.

Please note below that there are some limitations to the program and the assistance we can provide:

  1. Remote tech support is only possible to homes that have a fully functional internet connection, either cabled or with wi-fi.

  2. If you are unable to install the remote access software on your own computer, one of our tech support people may need to come into your home for one initial visit. If you are uncomfortable with that, we will work with someone who already comes into your home, for example, to deliver your groceries. We will use best practices of physical distancing and sanitation.

  3. While the support technicians will do their best to get your system up and running, some problems are beyond their skill and ability to solve. In situations like that you will be given the name and phone number of a reputable professional computer repair technician. If you decide to use such professional services there will likely be an out of pocket cost associated with those services.

  4. Delivery of a loaner computer will require access to your home. If you are uncomfortable with that, we will work with someone who already comes into your home, for example, to deliver your groceries. We will use best practices of physical distancing and sanitation (including disinfecting hardware).
